Why Do You Need A NSW Boat Licence?
To drive a powered vessel for recreational purposes on NSW waterways at a speed of 10 knots (18.5 km/h) or more, you need a general boat driving licence.
With our NSW boat licence courses, it doesn’t matter if you are brand new to the world of boating or have been boating since you were in diapers. Our courses help you get through the required boating safety education and achieve your NSW boat licence in no time!
Students must be 12 & up to obtain a NSW boat licence, with students aged 12 to up to 16 years being able to obtain a young adult licence with a few restrictions compared to its adult counterpart.
To get the NSW boat licence, you are required to sit the NSW boat licence 50 question exam in addition to verifying your previous practical experience in a logbook which can be backdated up to 12 months (if you have prior boating experience that can be verified) or you can do 3 new trips with someone who already has their NSW boat licence.

Attend Session
Attend our session where we’ll provide some revision with Q&A with our trainers. You’ll sit the official NSW boat licence 50 question exam.
Get Your Licence
Once you’ve passed the exam, we’ll give you a certificate. Take this, with your completed logbook, to Service NSW. No further testing is required!
